Yeshua (a. k. a. Jesus) Was In India? Read my book to find out
What if Yeshua, or, as he is more commonly called, Jesus, traveled to India during the “lost years?” What if he studied yoga from Patanjali, Brahmanism from the Brahman priests, Buddhism from the Buddhists, and even the Indian healing techniques of Ayurveda, unknown in Israel? Would he be thought of as a great physician when he returned?
My book, Fully Human: The Story of a Man Called Yeshua imagines these events. Yeshua is portrayed as a human, not a miracle worker. Most of the miracles are explained as Ayurvedic healing techniques or normal occurrences. Following is an excerpt from my book (note—the Sea of Chinnereth is what the Israelis called the Sea of Galilee in those days.):
The five-man crew struggled to keep the boat from capsizing. Cephas, with the help of his brother, was keeping the boat heading into the wind. During storms like this the long oar-like quarter rudder near the back of the boat took two sailors to keep steady. Visibility was nonexistent, and Cephas had no idea if they were now close to shore or not. The waves were tossing the boat around like a child with a toy. Yeshua had still not moved.
A huge clap of thunder resounded through the boat. “Yeshua!” they all yelled together. Yeshua, having been drawn out of his meditation, turned to face them, then looked up to the sky. As he gazed upward, suddenly the wind began to decrease, and then within a few minutes, almost as if it had never been, the storm passed and the waters turned calm. Yeshua held his hands out to either side of his body, palms face up. “There. Why were you afraid?” he asked. “Have you still no faith?”
“You saved us,” Ben-Ragash cried out. “You calmed the waters.”
“Ben-Ragash, it was not me. Cephas and his brother used their experience as fishermen. Storms in the Sea of Chinnereth come and go, as did this one. You all know that. I did nothing except to have faith in my Father. The storm ended—the waters calmed.”
There was an uneasy silence as they all looked to one another. Yehuda said, “But … but it was when you looked up at the sky that storm went away.”
Yeshua ignored his remark, shook back his hair and asked, “Cephas, how long have you been a fisherman?”
“All my life, Master.”
“And how often have you encountered storms like this?”
“Many times, Master.”
“And have you ever had your boat sink in a storm?”
“Never, Master.”
Yeshua stood and said, “There, you see. You had a captain who knew how to act in a storm. You had a teacher who assured you that you would not be drowned. And you had the love of God. With all these things, there was no need to be afraid. God loves all of you. And God will look over you. But you must use the tools that He gave you: your head, your arms and your legs, and yes, your courage.”
I had great fun writing this book, although it took five years and four drafts to complete. If you are looking for something to read over your summer vacation, please consider reading this. For the remainder of the month, I will be offering the Kindle version for just $0.99. You can download it onto your Kindle [here].
And then, a favor. Once you have read it, please post a review on Amazon. I would love to read what you thought.
